The Fontaine de Tourny, inaugurated in 2007, for the 400th anniversary of Quebec in 2008.
This fountain was previously installed in Bordeaux, France in 1857, but was removed in 1960 due to maintenance overages.

Very close to you is the Hôtel du Parlement du Québec. This is the name of the building where the National Assembly of Quebec (the provincial government) sits. It was built in 1886 in the Second Empire/neo renaissance style.
The challenge here relates to the sculptures on its facade.

St. Louis Gate is one of the 4 remaining gates of the old walled city the French built.

Stop At: Croix du sacrifice, Plaines d’Abraham, Grande Allée E, Québec, QC G1R 3R2, Canada
The Cross of Sacrifice, which stands at the corner of Grande Allée E (which becomes Saint-Louis), and George VI, is a gathering place every November 11, Armistice Day. It commemorates the thousands of Canadians who died during the 1st and 2nd world wars and that in Korea.

The Citadel is an integral part of the fortifications of the old town. Louis de Buade, Count of Frontenac had a first fortification built in 1690. It was greatly enlarged and reinforced in 1745, following the surrender of Louisbourg, in Nova Scotia.

This museum presents the history of the Battlefields where the Battle of the Plains of Abraham took place in 1759, followed in 1760 by the Battle of Sainte-Foy.

The Voltigeurs de Québec is the name of a first reserve infantry regiment of the Canadian Armed Forces. Founded in 1862. These are therefore part-time soldiers who occasionally serve in domestic and overseas operations.

It was in 1908 that this park became a historic site. This is where the Quebec City Summer Festival takes place every year, and a few other festivals.
Why the name “Abraham” you may ask? It has nothing to do with the Bible. A few years after the founding of Quebec, Abraham Martin received twelve acres of land (1635), then another 20 acres (1645). When he died, “Abraham’s” land was sold to the Ursulines.

The Martello Towers were part of the British military defense system. There were 4 originally. You’ll now walk towards the 2nd tower. The 3rd was demolished in 1904 and the 4th is located much further on Lavigueur Street in the Saint-Jean-Baptiste district.

This park pays tribute to the Francophone communities across America, named by René Lévesque, Prime Minister in 1985, when it was named.

The large concrete building to the east (left) of the park is the Grand Théâtre de Québec, opened in 1970. Prime Minister Jean Lesage (1912-80), in office in 1963 initiated the project with the federal government, to create a center for the arts in Quebec City while commemorating the country’s centenary (planned for 1967).

On the 31st floor, 221 meters high, you will be at the highest point in Quebec City, which itself is elevated above its surroundings.
From there, you can admire the National Assembly, the star-shaped Citadel, Chateau Frontenac, Orléans island, Lévis across the river, the Plains of Abraham and more.

This is the Parc de la Francophonie, finished in 1974. Back then it was called Grande Allée Park, but was renamed in 1995 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the International Organization of La Francophonie.

This large museum in Quebec’s lower town (basse-ville) presents diverse exhibits from the First Nations to modern Quebec. Your challenge here will have you looking at the street signs.

This small park was originally part of Quebec city’s fortification. It now has a large Celtic Cross donated by Ireland in recognition to Quebec welcoming many Irish children during the famine.
