All camping equipment, canoe equipment and meals are included.

Itinerary

Day 1: Edmonton to Hinton area lake campground

Stop At: Hinton, Hinton, Yellowhead County, Alberta
Meet the guide and the group early morning in Edmonton or at 11:00am in Hinton. Travel in the comfortable van to the first campsite, lake side just 30km from Hinton. After lunch jump into the canoes to get comfortable paddling and controlling the two person canoe.
Duration: 12 hours

Meals included:
• Lunch: Lunch at the campground allows for all to get acquainted with each other and the camp gear.
• Dinner: After paddling on the lake’ a hearty dinner around the campfire and final preparations for the canoe trip ahead.
Accommodation included: camping in two-person tent

Day 2: Athabasca River- all that is needed for the next four days is loaded into the canoes for the guided downstream paddle.

Stop At: Hinton, Hinton, Yellowhead County, Alberta
Begin the four day back country portion of the trip, loading the canoes and heading downstream
Duration: 1 hour

• Breakfast

Accommodation included: camping along the banks of the river

Day 3: Athabasca River- paddling and floating with breaks for lunch and overnight on islands or the shore

Stop At: Athabasca River, Jasper National Park, Alberta Canada
Following the guide, at times leisurely drifting while alert to the next rapid or obstacle. Four to five hours daily are spent on the river. Camps allow for time for swimming, fishing, exploring and stargazing
Duration: 5 hours

Accommodation included: camping on a river island, enjoying the peace of the wilderness

Day 4: Athabasca River paddling and floating about four to five hours each day spent in the canoe

Stop At: Athabasca Glacier, 127 km north of Lake Louise 103 km south of Jasper, Jasper National Park, Alberta Canada
canoeing allows for plenty of opportunity to spot wildlife like eagle, deer, moose, bear as the boats quietly move downstream. Camps are kept with minimum impact, leaving no trace but footsteps in the sand when leaving.

• Dinner
Accommodation included: comfortable tents and all camping gear is supplied, even sleeping bags can be arranged if you don’t have your own.

Day 5: Afternoon arrival at take out point, then two hour van transfer back to Edmonton.

The trip ends with the return to Edmonton (transfer from the take out to Hinton is possible if pre-arranged)
