We offer Calgary’s only Indigenous walking tours where you will hear traditional stories and learn about Indigenous culture and history from your guide who is from the Blood Tribe of southern Alberta and grew up on reserve.

Tarra Wright Many Chief is the owner and head tour guide of Many Chief Tours. She’s a successful tourism consultant who grew up on nearby Kainai Reserve (Blood Tribe) and now she has created her own tourism business.

Tarra walks guests through Nose Hill Park and shares personal stories, explains some cultural traditions of her family, traditional uses of local plants found in Nose Hill and explains the cultural significance of the Siksikaitsitapi Medicine Wheel.

You also have opportunities throughout the tour to ask questions; the Indigenous tour guide welcomes curious guests and respectful discussions to help build Indigenous awareness, and mutual respect through cross-cultural understanding.

Itinerary

Stop At: Nose Hill Park, 5620 14 St NW, Calgary, Alberta T2N 4C9 Canada

Your Indigenous guide will meet you at the Nose Hill Viewpoint and guide along a 2 to 3 km walking tour in the traditional territory of the Blackfoot People. Explore Nose Hill in Calgary’s northwest and learn more about the culture of the Blackfoot People and the beautiful grasslands of Alberta.

On the Siksikaitsitapi Medicine Wheel Tour you will learn about the Blackfoot People’s deep connection to the environment. Tour will include a hike in the park where we will explore the Siksikaitsitapi Medicine Wheel and locate plants that were vital to the Blackfoot way of life.

The tour is approximately 2.5 to 3 hours depending on the speed of the group and we welcome questions and enjoy curious guests. The trail is mostly a dirt trail over sometimes uneven and hilly terrain. Comfortable footwear is suggested for the route.

Our First Nations guide looks forward to sharing their culture through sharing the history of the land and sharing stories of their connection to the land.
