This full-day tour provides you with lots of opportunities to explore Banff National Park, enjoying our winter wonderland with ice-skating on Lake Louise, snowshoeing one of our local secret trails & exploring the frozen waterfalls of Johnston Canyon.

Itinerary

Pass By: Banff National Park, Banff National Park, Alberta
Adventuring outside deep in the heart of Banff National Park is a phenomenal experience in any season!
That being said, this is a part of the world where weather can change in an instant and temperatures stay well below freezing for most of the winter. Please layer up and dress for being outside in freezing temperatures! Please also ensure you have warm, waterproof footwear on.
On this tour, your Radventures guide will determine the best times to visit each of these locations, in no particular order, based on weather conditions, big bus tour schedules & a few other factors that we as locals consider to ensure that you, as our guests, are getting the best and most authentic experience on the day.
Stop At: Lake Louise, Lake Louise, Banff National Park, Alberta
Lace up your ice-skates (included) on the world famous Lake Louise and glide across the ice as you breathe in the incredible scenery around you. With 2 hours here you will be able to ice-skate on the lake, try some ice-hockey moves, explore the lakeside trails, be amazed by the lakefront ice sculptures and check out the incredible hotel interior & shops.
After getting you set up with ice-skates and getting you acquainted with the area, your guide will remain with the tour van to allow for guests to come and go as they please to pick-up/drop-off ice skates or snowshoes and to have access to their belongings without having to carry them around.
Around 12pm – 1pm there will be a short lunch stop in Lake Louise Village to buy lunch or enjoy your BYO lunch.

Escape the crowded ski slopes and explore snowy forest trails as you take in the stunning mountain vistas around you on the snowshoeing part of this tour. Your guide will use their expert local knowledge & experience to determine the exact location for your snowshoeing experience, based on recent snowfall & weather conditions. Upon arriving at your snowshoeing destination, your guide will provide you with a demonstration on how to use the snowshoeing gear before giving you the opportunity to explore the area at your own pace.
Snowshoe rental gear is included!
Please note: This is a beginner snowshoeing experience that is suitable for anyone with a moderate level of fitness. This activity may be moved to another location or cancelled due to bad weather, snow conditions or other factors concerning guest safety.

Stop At: Johnston Canyon, Banff National Park, Alberta Canada
Experience the incredible beauty of Banff National Park’s frozen winter wonderland at Johnston Canyon. Your guide will equip you with crampons/ice-cleats & hiking poles and walk you to the trailhead to start your self-guided ice canyon hiking experience. You’ll have 2 hours to complete the 5km round trip, exploring the Upper & Lower Falls of Johnston Canyon. This self-guided tour caters to all abilities and energy levels, allowing guests to explore Johnston Canyon at their own pace and to be able to return to the tour van at anytime up to the 2 hour limit.

Visit the incredible Bow Falls, home to the famous scene from the 1953 Marilyn Monroe film “River of No Return”.

Stop At: Surprise Corner, Buffalo St, Banff, Banff National Park, Alberta Canada
Surprise Corner is a spectacular viewpoint of the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel and the Spray Valley and one of the most famous photo spots in Banff. The view is without a doubt one of the most iconic places to snap a picture in Banff.

Experience the best views of Banff, the Bow Valley and the incredible surrounding mountains from this epic viewpoint.

Stop At: Lake Minnewanka Scenic Drive, Banff, Banff National Park, Alberta T1L 1K2 Canada
Take in the mountain & lake views on the picturesque Lake Minnewanka Loop Road with stops to view the biggest glacial lake in Banff National Park

Pass By: Bow Valley Parkway, Banff, Banff National Park, Alberta Canada
Enjoy the incredible views of towering mountains, huge glaciers & alpine forest whilst keeping an eye out for wildlife as we travel along the Bow Valley Parkway to Johnston Canyon.
