This is Banff’s only Indigenous walking tour where you will hear traditional stories and learn about Indigenous culture and history from your guide who is from the Blood Tribe of southern Alberta and grew up on reserve.

Tarra Wright Many Chief is the owner and head tour guide of Many Chief Tours. She’s a successful tourism consultant who grew up on nearby Kainai Reserve (Blood Tribe) and now she has created her own tourism business.

Tarra walks guests along the Bow River through Banff and shares personal stories, explains some cultural traditions of her family, and explains the cultural significance of this location to the Blackfoot people.

Itinerary

Our Banff Indigenous guided walking tour is an authentic Indigenous walking tour along the Bow River in the Town of Banff that provides guests with the opportunity to learn about local Indigenous history through cultural sharing with an Indigenous guide. During the tour we provide an introduction to Indigenous people in Canada, followed by an exploration into the lives of the Blackfoot people both before and after contact. Through this experience we hope to share with our guests the story of how the Blackfoot people are a resilient people that have overcome many barriers to once again thrive in their traditional territory.
The tour provides guests with the opportunity to learn and connect with local Indigenous people in an outdoor nature setting that fosters learning and open dialogue. The tour is approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.
